Hope you still feel you have something to celebrate.

Happy 4th to you and yours.
I don’t celebrate the holiday so much, but I do enjoy seeing things explode!

Good comment, Edna.
You know, it’s probably the one day of the year I feel upbeat. We always begin the morning by putting out our flag and then playing Ray Charles’s “America the Beautiful” at full volume to our neighborhood. Loud. Very loud. And we play it twice.
All day my friends sent me photos where there were parades in their towns featuring decorated tractors, marchers in Uncle Sam hats, kids on bike and trikes and lots of dogs festooned with the red, white and blue. Bandstands and bands. Popsicles and cold watermelon. Not too many politicians. The pictures could have been from the many decades past when I was a kid.
We can tear hair and beat breasts every other day, but I’ll let nothing wreck my Fourth of July.

I’m a big, patriotic, absurdly sentimental and hopeful sap. Love Independence Day. This year, eh, I had little enthusiasm, and no explanatino for it. A nice firework show wakes up the little kid in me, though.
